Introducing Cat Johnson!
It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade…and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006 with Linden Bay. Today, she is a multi-nominated, award-winning author of more than a dozen published romances.
Behind the Scenes of Cat's Latest Release– Model SoldierWe asked Cat what inspired her to write the newest Task Force Zeta novel…
"Inspired is the perfect word when speaking about how Model Soldier came to be written. My soldier pen pal was training for redeployment to Afghanistan. He sent an amazingly descriptive email describing this unbelievable training he underwent in the German Alps and I knew immediately I wanted to use it for the opening scene of Model Soldier. The rest of the book flowed effortless from that one scene. Lucky for me, he was happy to let me plagiarize his real life for this work of fiction. It wouldn't have been the same without the realism I gained from his actual experiences." ~ Cat Johnson

"Out of every 100 men, 10 shouldn't even be there, 80 are just targets,
nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle.
Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." Heraclitus, 500 B.C.

Cat Johnson Trivia
1- I'm a professional harpist. I began playing less than ten years ago and was performing with a harp group in public the first year. The instrument itself is so impressive, my musical ability really doesn't have to be, thank goodness!
2- I put myself through college tending bar and to this day, I can still whip up a drink, hoist a case of wine or roll a beer keg with the best of them—which is pretty impressive since I'm barely five feet tall and under 115 pounds!
3- My father is an internationally collected painter and I've inherited a bit of his talent. I can draw and paint pretty well and did illustrations for a monthly newsletter and catalog for one of my real jobs in the past.
4- Television is my guilty pleasure. It is on while I write, while I cook, while I read, pretty much all the time.
5- I'm an only child. I use that as my excuse for a lot of my shortcomings.
6- I now live on a small farm in a house built in 1734. My husband insists he sees ghosts. I, on the other hand, am still happily living in denial and have yet to see a thing. I hope to keep it that way.
7- I have more animals than any sane person would. I can go from scooping up horse manure in rubber boots to attending a black tie event in a ball gown and heels on a moments notice and believe me, I have had to do exactly that on more than one occasion.
8- Surprisingly, I am an excellent shot with a rifle. A handy but underused skill here in New York State.
9- My best friends from fifth grade are still my best friends today. I'm not sure if that is a testament to the quality of my friendship or my inability to make new ones!
10- Anything and everything in my life is fair game for my writing. No one is safe and nothing is sacred, so beware!
