Excerpt:
Spinning around, Ewan gaped at him in shock. “Jason!”
“Ewan!” Jason didn’t know what to do. He was covered in sweat and imagined he looked like crap from the work-out.
“How? How the bleedin’ hell?” He embraced him tightly.
As Ewan’s tuxedo-clad arms wrapped around him, Jason closed his eyes in relief and complete wonder. Fate. Once it had betrayed them, but now here it was, putting them right next door to each other. His body engulfing that incredible male, Jason groaned despite himself, pressing his very excited cock into Ewan’s hips.
Setting back to see his face, Ewan sighed, “Oh, you’re still smashing! Yeah? Exercising? Oh, look at the body on you! Horny as ever!”
“I’m a sweaty mess.” Jason laughed, the blush hot in his cheeks.
“Since when have I minded your sweat on me? Eh?” Ewan laughed.
“Can you come in?” Jason gestured to his room.
“Yeah! Of course!”
As Jason’s hands shook, he opened the door and showed Ewan in.
“What are you doing here? Did you come to the premiere?” Ewan stood very near him, taking off his jacket.
Tossing the key on the table, Jason crossed his arms over his chest selfconsciously, feeling very intimidated by Ewan’s success, though in the past it was more likely Ewan who would be the silent, dreamy one of the two. “I was there. Couldn’t get near the place without pushing every git over. A flamin’ drunk slapper had her hand on my arse!”
Ewan laughed.
“Then I missed you! Was telling her to get her finger out of my fucking anus, and you had passed! I was hoping to wave and catch your attention. I was gutted, Ewan.”
Trying not to explode with laughter, Ewan giggled, “Her finger in your anus?”
“Close! Jesus, the things they think they can get away with in that crowd.”
“Aye…well, my handsome doctor, you have my attention now.”
At that very seductive comment, Jason went mute.
A smile on his lips, Ewan stood still, staring at him.
“Right.” Spinning around, trying to think of what to do next, Jason finally sighed, “I need a shower. Uh, you want to call room service?”
“I can, aye. What do you fancy?”
As he said that last line, Jason found Ewan’s light eyes flicker to his crotch. “Uh…anything. You know, something light.”
“All right. Beer? Or wine?”
“Wine. Italian red.” The moment Jason said ‘Italian’, his face went into a crimson flush, thinking of Ewan’s model lover.
“I remember.” Ewan smiled sweetly removing his bow tie to try and get comfortable.
“Right.” Jason hesitated, trying to make sure this was real and that if he left the room, Ewan would not vanish. “You’ll be here? When I get out?”
“I’m not going anywhere, love.”
“Be only a minute…” Jason began backing out of the room. “You want to go next door to get into something comfortable?”
“No, I can get comfy here.” Ewan started opening the top buttons of his starched shirt.
“Right.”
When Jason finally left, Ewan shook his head, and picked up the phone. “Oi? This room service? Yeah, it’s Ewan, look, I want two meals sent to 303, not 301, yeah? Me and the doctor are having dinner together tonight.” As he ordered their meal, he grinned mischievously in the direction of the shower.
Jason was under the spray, scrubbing as quickly as he could. His mind was going haywire. Where do you start? How do you backtrack twelve months and try to explore what went wrong? It seemed almost impossible to want to bring up that horrible mistake and ruin a lovely night.
Closing the taps, Jason stood still, dripping for a moment, to think. When he looked up, Ewan was in the steamy tiled room. His shirt sleeves had been rolled up, his collar opened low on his chest.
Swallowing his intimidation, Jason moved the sliding doors back to see him.
When he did, Ewan hissed through his teeth, “Oh, Jason…you are too lovely.” He reached out to cup his face and kissed him, moaning at the taste of his lips.
Jason savored the kiss then sighed, “No. I’m just a bloody old prat.”
“Old? Compared to whom? The slapper that stuck her finger up your bum?”
“No…to an Italian model,” Jason mumbled sheepishly.
“Oi?” Ewan perked up. “Vee can’t hold a candle to you! You’re only thirty-seven, Jas! You’re joking! Yeah?”
“Vee?” Jason peered out of the shower stall.
“Vincienzo. Vee. He’s nothing. Just an escort.”
“Exactly. Male escort.” Jason shook his head and grabbed one of the soft white bath sheets, stepping out and rubbing it over his head.
The sweet expression on Ewan’s face changed to anger. “Don’t even get us started on betrayal, love. You’ve got me beat, hands down, yeah? Lovely gold ring on your finger.” He nodded his head to it in disgust.
Jason paused in what he was doing and looked down at it. He twisted it off and threw it in the sink. “Means fuck all. Haven’t so much as touched the wench.”
“Wench? You mean wife, don’t you?” Turning his back, Ewan left him standing there.
Trying not to be cut to shreds by him, Jason threw down the towel and stormed out, confronting him. “I told you! It was just to get the money! How many times do I have to say it?”
“And do we need the money now, Jason?” Ewan faced him, hands on his hips.
Grappling with logic, Jason made some small sounds of frustration, then ran his hand through his wet hair in agony.
Ewan softened. “Love, you could have been the one to wait, yeah? One year, and look at me. I’ve got all we need. You had no faith. You thought I would fail.”
“No.” Jason tried to control his emotions. “Inside, I knew you would never fail. You’ve got everything a man needs to succeed. I just was afraid of that success.”
“Afraid?” Ewan’s eyes flashed over Jason’s naked body.
“Yes. Look at you! You’ve passed me by! That glorious young male that I fell in love with, he idolized me! Christ, Ewan, the pining you did over me when you were in my care! Look at the role reversal!”
“You don’t know what you’re bloody talking about!” Ewan shouted. “You think I haven’t been sick over losing you? Thinking of how to patch the bleedin’ hole in me heart! I tried to contact you! You were bloody moved out so fast, I lost you! You couldn’t wait to marry! Don’t talk to me about passing you by!”
“I’ve not touched another human being since you left!” Jason’s emotions welled up.
“Right!”
“I told her I was impotent! We sleep in separate rooms, for fuck’s sake!”
When Jason choked in a sob on the last line, Ewan blinked his eyes at him in shock. “You haven’t had a shag in over twelve bloody months?”
